We offer several different kinds of support meetings in Portland
to fit the many different needs of the local community. The Trans only, Allied, and Trans & Allied meetings are held monthly
at the Charles A. Dana Health Education Center at the Maine Medical Center campus. Nonbinary/Genderqueer support meetings are held
in the Woodbury Campus Center at the University of Southern Maine.
Room 1 of the Charles A. Dana Health Education Center,
Maine Medical Center Campus, Portland, ME.
This is a peer-to-peer support group for trans identified
and questioning people. We welcome everyone, at all phases of gender transition,
to come to these meetings. For the comfort and safety of those who attend
this group, we ask that it be a trans only space.
Allies Only Meetings
Every 1st Wednesday of the month, 6:00-7:30pm
Room 2 of the Charles A. Dana Health Education Center,
Maine Medical Center Campus
This meeting is held at the same time as the Trans Only Meeting, but in room 2. It is a
group for the significant cisgender (not transgender) allies of trans people, such as partners,
family, and friends. This group serves as a place of support where allies can
learn how to be more supportive of the trans person (or people!) in their lives.
Trans and Significant Allies
Every 3rd Wednesday of the month, 6:00-7:30pm
Room 1 of the Charles A. Dana Health Education Center,
Maine Medical Center Campus
This is a place for trans people and their allies
to learn about each other's challenges and triumphs, and receive support.
Please note that this meeting is exclusive to trans people and those whom they choose
to bring with them. It is not an open forum to learn more about gender diversity. If you
or your school/business/or group would like information or training, please send an email to
mtn@mainetransnet.org.
Nonbinary/Genderqueer Meetings
Every 3rd Monday of the Month, 7:00-8:30pm
Woodbury Campus Center, University of Southern Maine, Portland, ME 04101.
At last! Meetings that are specifically for anyone who identifies as
non-binary, gender nonconforming, genderqueer, genderfluid, agender,
or any gender identity that does not fit neatly into cisnormative
binary gender.
